Wooden Spoon Teams 2022
The wooden spoon is an annual competition between Howth and Sutton golf clubs It was inaugurated 66 years ago in 1956 by the then Captain of Howth C W Eyre and his Sutton counterpart A G Bogan. The losing team is presented with the Wooden Spoon ,so the objective is to not take home the Wooden Spoon ! Seamus Campbell is synonymous with the competition and managed the Sutton team for 40 years consecutively from 1980 to his final match in 2020.

Sunday March 20 was an eventful day for the club. Team manager, Noel O’Halloran fielded the Sutton Wooden Spoon team at Howth GC, while assistant manager Sam Kelly with his Intermediate young guns battled it out for the inaugural Sindy Moran Intermediate Wooden Spoon over Sutton links

The First “Sindy Moran Wooden Spoon” match took place between Sutton GC and Howth GC. Sindy was an extremely popular Member of Sutton GC. Sindy was a Massive character of Sutton Golf club and always loved a party. All the lads did him proud on the partying front anyway on Sunday evening - that I can 100% confirm!
