The Uden Team progress to the Quarter Final after a battling 3-2 victory against Balbriggan, played in horrendous weather.  Torrential showers throughout made matters extra challenging but the Sutton team were not found wanting, with the level of golf played remarkable given the conditions.

Match Report:

First out at home were Michael O’Halloran and Niall Kennedy who were narrowly beaten on the 19th, in a high-quality match. Danny Buckley & Barry Joyce, fought back from an early deficit to win another thrilling match 2 up on the 18th. 

In Balbriggan, Brian McCartan and Cian Bennis lost 3&2, against an exceptionally strong home pairing. Gareth Noone and Marcus Middleton were never behind and comfortably won their match 4&3. In the final match, Kieran Cussen and John Houston, despite being 2 down in the early holes, ground out an impressive victory 3&2.

This was a superb victory against a formidable Balbriggan team, who reached the semi-finals of the Uden last year. Confidence and belief in the squad is high ahead of a Quarter Final (against either Corrstown or Malahide) with a first Uden pennant since 2000 the target.
